Title: Vice President of Finance

FLSA Status: Exempt

 

Job Summary: The Vice President of Finance (“VP Finance”) oversees all financial and accounting activity of Carrfour Supportive Housing, Inc. (“Carrfour”) and its affiliates. Carrfour is the largest not-for-profit affordable housing developer in Florida. The VP Finance serves as a key member of the leadership team and reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer. This position establishes systems for financial controls and regulatory compliance and is responsible for all accounting, tax and financial reporting functions, budgeting and cash management. The VP Finance shares in oversight of real estate financing and also provides leadership in planning and policy development.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Budgeting, Cash Management and Financial Reporting

· Oversee accounting department to ensure proper maintenance of all accounting systems and functions

· Hire, supervise and train all accounting staff

· Responsible for all annual budgets including budgets by property and project

· Responsible for timely, accurate and useful financial and management reports to managers and the Board of Directors

· Monitor all financial results against budget on a monthly basis

· Provide analysis of financials and other performance indicators for each property and project as required

· Ensure all costs are tracked and reported for development projects

· Liaison with Finance Committee and report to the Board of Directors on all financial matters

· Responsible for annual audits and proper filing of tax returns

· Cash flow planning and projections to match availability of funds with needs

· Maintains all financial tracking and reporting systems regarding affiliate and partnership needs

 

Internal Controls and Compliance

· Responsible for ensuring appropriate internal control systems over financial procedures

· Responsible for maintaining and updating all accounting policies and procedures

· Legal, regulatory and partnership compliance regarding all financial and property management functions

· Ensures compliance with all financial aspects of grants and contracts

 

Planning and Financing

· In conjunction with Vice President of Housing Development, oversees financing strategies for projects in development and assists in the negotiating, underwriting and closing of development transactions

· Financial leadership role in developing corporate strategic and business plans

· Works closely with management team members on departmental goals and strategic planning

· Develops long-range forecasts and maintains long-range financial plans

· Develops and maintains key finance relationships with funders, lenders and vendors

· Develop policies and procedures to seamlessly transition new properties from construction/development phase to being operational

· Assists with planning, administering and monitoring risk management activities, including annual insurance renewal process

· Oversees cash and investments to appropriately balance risk, return and liquidity

· With other senior managers, represents the company to financial partners including financial institutions, investors, foundation executives, public officials, and others

· Oversees structuring and administration of corporate and partnership entities


Qualifications:

· At least 7 years of experience in a financial leadership role, preferably in affordable housing or real estate industry

· Bachelor of Accounting or Finance required

· CPA or comparable advanced degree preferred

· Ability to work within a very diverse workplace and environment

· Experience with affordable housing programs such as LIHTC and HUD a plus.

· Strong communication, administration and organizational skills

· Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to supervise and motivate staff

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
