Program Highlights
At the undergraduate level, the Real Estate major leads to the Bachelor of Science in Real Estate (BSRE) degree. The BSRE is the only bachelor's degree in real estate in Virginia, and one of about 20 in the United States. This program introduces students to basic principles of real estate as well as property management, real estate law, real estate appraisal, and real estate finance. By effectively selecting electives, students can also learn the essentials of real estate negotiation, brokerage, and land use planning. Available internships provide real world experience, which prepare students to enter a variety of careers in the real estate profession.
The real estate concentration is one of four active programs in the nation that satisfies the rigorous educational requirements of the Appraisal Institute's MAI designation. Students can satisfy most of the Appraisal Institute's education requirements by completing the concentration. This concentration emphasizes comprehensive education in related disciplines so that graduates' analytical skills and abilities to communicate with other professionals are greatly enhanced. Students may also fast track to the Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) professional designation by completing the program.
The Virginia Commonwealth University Evening MBA program offers the flexibility to attend full-time or part-time while gaining a winning combination of business theory, practical application and valuable career contacts. They received “Tier One MBA Ranking” from CEO Magazine Global MBA Rankings (2017) and ""A Best Business School"" from the Princeton Review (2016).
