Position Description:  The Investment Analyst Associate will work on a well-established real estate investment team with a 30-plus year history. Under direction of Senior Associate or VP, the analyst associate will work closely with the acquisitions team to identify, underwrite, and close real estate investments. This core position on our team will perform the financial analysis and market research necessary to value real estate assets via multiple sourcing channels in multiple asset classes. The individual will have the opportunity to present real estate investment opportunities to management as well as investment committee members and partake in investment committee meetings from time to time. This individual will also assist in calling owners and brokers for market information, analyzing financials statement and rent rolls, compiling sales and rent comparable, and submarket data on demographics and population.

 

This individual must have exceptional attention to detail, have experience in financial modeling especially in discounted cash flow analysis, and have strong financial analysis skills. Due to the relatively small size of the MLG Capital team this role will have significant exposure to Key Management, Key Principals and the CEO.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree required; MBA or other relevant Advanced Degree or certifications a plus
  • Strong interest in a private equity real estate investment career
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience providing a strong financial, mathematical and financial analysis skills.
  • Strong communication, negotiation and business writing skills
  • Strong sense of self-motivation and direction; the ability to work independently, lead, and be inspiring
  • Excellent attention to detail, Good judgment, ethical, professional, outgoing, and personable.
  • Experience in CRM software a plus (Salesforce)
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Argus, and standard commercial real estate resources (Co-Star, etc)
  • Smart, energetic, team player with a strong work ethic and commitment to excellence demonstrated by working within a team, as well as independently, while driving multiple priorities and applying good judgment along with strong sense of self-motivation and direction.
  • Core ability to set goals, work well under pressure, perform and seek out projects
  • Collaborative creative thinker with focus on “thinking outside of the box”

 

General Responsibilities:

 

  • Analyzing real estate for acquisition
    • Preparing market studies
    • Calling brokers and owners for deal and market information
    • Performing financial and rent roll analyses and summarizing findings
    • Creating discounted cash flow models
    • Presenting potential new acquisitions to Investment Committee and Senior Acquisition Team Members
    • Researching economic, demographic, population, macro- and micro-market trends
    • Mapping markets and submarkets
  • Performing due diligence on potential real estate investments
    • Reading and abstracting leases
    • Inspecting properties
  • Assisting in asset management projects
    • Entering deal information into tracker
    • Expanding owner database of local real estate owners and brokerage contacts
