POSITION SUMMARY:
ULI’s Building Healthy Places Initiative (BHP) is seeking a skilled Manager for Outreach and Networks to maximize the reach and impact of our publications and reports and support the implementation of core programs. The Manager role will consolidate responsibilities currently managed by several different BHP team members. This position will initially be a one-year to 18-month engagement, with the potential for an extension or a renewal.
The Manager will be part of the Building Healthy Places Initiative, one of three flagship programs of the Center for Sustainability and Economic Performance (CSEP).
This is a full time exempt position located in Washington D.C. reporting to the Senior Manager, Content.
Goals for this position include:
- Maximizing the sharing and outreach of reports and research and partnering with the ULI communications and marketing team to ensure that the initiative is optimizing all existing and evolving communications tools to enhance the impact and reach of our reports.
- Planning the Building Healthy Places Forum series and other events and programs.
- Managing the implementation of the ULI Health Mentorship program.
- Optimize the visibility and reach of research and reports, in part by leveraging ULI member and partner networks.
- Recruit district councils to host events about Building Healthy Places reports and content.
- Track upcoming conferences by likely partner organizations (Smart Growth America, Congress for the New Urbanism, Building Owner and Managers Association, etc.) and submit session proposals for speaking events with ULI staff and members.
- Schedule and manage webinars related to reports and other emerging content.
- Develop marketing and communications collateral for specific reports and for the initiative as a whole, including social media packets for partners, and provide ongoing updates for the Building Healthy Places webpages.
- Assist with writing articles and commentary for ULI publications, developing spin-off pieces and collateral for reports, and place them in Urban Land magazine, Urban Land online, and other media outlets.
- Track marketing and communications metrics in order to optimize outreach strategies.
- Collect and share stories of impact on projects, members, and people, translating these stories into messages that work for specific targeted audiences.
- Assist with materials, outreach, and logistics, related to forums, workshops, and other events and convenings.
- Develop systems and processes for the enhanced management of BHP report image library and inventory, including photo permissions, etc.
- Manage the preparation and mailing lists for Building Healthy Places E-newsletter and BHP email addresses.
- Manage the inventory of physical reports, as well as external mailing lists and activities.
- Manage the Health Leaders Network program, including recruitment of mentors and mentees, development of participation guidelines, communications travel, and other logistics.
- At least five to six years of related experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of communications best practices.
- A strategic thinker, a strong writer, and an excellent communicator.
- Comfortable engaging with ULI members and partners.
- Able to maintain keen attention to details, timelines, and various moving project pieces.
- Able to write summaries of various reports and topics.
- Travel within the United States as required. A reasonable expectation would be one trip every other month, each with a duration of two to three days.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in communications, leadership, or related field. Knowledge of urban planning, real estate, or public health would be beneficial.
