Company: Our Client, a Mid-Atlantic area based, privately-owned, mixed-use real estate development & investment company, seeks a talented development professional to join the organization and be an integral component in driving a nationally recognized, multi-billion $ mixed use development project forward.  This firm has an outstanding platform comprised of exceptionally stable and successful capital partners, a group of experienced, creative folks and a vision to revitalize and transform urban cities, communities and neighborhoods into new and exciting places.   Position Overview: Reporting to senior management, the Development Manager is responsible for leading the development team on execution of all functions of development for large mixed-use real estate projects with a focus on planning, entitlement, financial analysis, and overall management of the development process from inception to stabilization.   Primary Responsibilities  

  • Interact and collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders including, company executives, the overall development team as well as other internal departments, outside consultants, relevant municipalities/government entities, and equity partners.
  • Work with the Investments team to prepare informational packages for the internal Investment Committee as well as Offering Memoranda for equity partners and outside construction lenders.
  • Oversee and implement all facets of the development process including planning, design, entitlement, construction and lease-up of the projects.
  • Thoroughly review civil, architectural, landscape architectural and interior design plans to drive quality and cost effectiveness.
  • Oversee the creation and maintenance of project budgets and monthly project development reports.
  • Prepare and oversee financial projections, monthly draw requests and related analyses for the development and operation of the projects.
  • Direct an internal project team and outside professionals in the creation and implementation of an effective strategy for the success of the project(s).
  • Seek out and maintain knowledge of relevant market metrics.
  • Provide leadership and mentoring for less experienced Associates.
  Primary Qualifications  
  • Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate and/or B.S in Finance/Real Estate/Civil Engineering/ Building Sciences.
  • MBA and/or master’s degree with applicable concentrations strongly preferred but not required.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a sophisticated real estate development company and/or project. Proven experience directing teams (internal/external)
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of development and construction practices.
  • Ability to manage several projects simultaneously through self-motivation, high energy, flexibility and excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail. Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently.
  • Strong MS Office skills including Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
  • Strong team orientation with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Follow-through, deductive reasoning, intellectual curiosity, and a sense of urgency in all tasks.
  • MUST BE WILLING TO RELOCATE
    Compensation: Compensation program comprised of competitive base salary and bonus incentive plan.
