Related Companies is seeking an Analyst to join its asset management team. The Asset Management Analyst would be responsible for the development, analysis and interpretation of financial and accounting data to evaluate operating results and operational efficiency in an effort to maximize value across the portfolio. This position will focus on the strategic real estate financial planning and performance monitoring of Related’s national market-rate residential portfolios as well as select commercial assets. The Asset Management Analyst will report to the VP – Director of Asset Management and is based in New York City.
Responsibilities:
- Review annual property budget, leasing plan, and capital program for each property as prepared by the property management and leasing team.
- Prepare annual business plan and mid-year asset management report and reforecast
- Prepare quarterly cash flow forecast and distribution recommendations to asset managers
- Update valuation files across portfolio annually; modify periodically to run sensitivities and develop pro-forma scenarios
- Prepare trend analysis, expense benchmarking reports and other portfolio analysis to identify opportunities to improve portfolio and/or individual asset performance
- Evaluate return on investment of potential value add opportunities and portfolio-wide initiatives
- Perform ad hoc analyses and diligence support to Director of Asset Management and liaise with property management, accounting and leasing teams as well as corporate departments.
- Assist in the analysis and negotiation of commercial leases
- Stay current on local market dynamics and understand its impact on how each asset is positioned in its respective market
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in finance, real estate, accounting, or related field
- A minimum of 2-4 years of prior Asset Management, Acquisitions or Investment Banking experience required
- Understanding of real estate fundamentals, accounting/financial statements, leasing and capital markets concepts
- Proficient in Word, Excel and PowerPoint, required
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Outstanding quantitative and analytical skills
- Ability to work both independently and as a team member
- Ability to multi-task effectively
