Job Description

This position provides leadership for real estate sales, covering 10 states in the U.S. South and Pacific Northwest.  The Director, Real Estate Operations and Sales is a key leadership role that leads a team responsible for maximizing returns from operational land sales through multiple product offerings, including rural recreation, rural residential, non-strategic, timberland and conservation land sales.  Duties and Responsibilities

  • Leads a high performing team through effective delegation, staffing, people development and coaching.
  • Develops plans and tactics to grow the real estate business and create long-term value.
  • Supervises pricing, appraisals, negotiations and transactions to maximize value and achieve company financial targets.
  • Networks and grows relationships with private real estate owners, NGOs and public stakeholders to appropriately market land sale opportunities and gather market intelligence.
  • Develops and manages yearly budgets and long-range plans.
  • Works with the legal department, outside counsel, accounting and other staff to execute land transactions.
  • Oversees the internal land sales approval process and communicates with senior management, forest resources staff and support staff to ensure transactions are efficiently managed.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Real Estate, Land Use Planning, Business Administration, Forestry or other related discipline is required. Advanced degree in Business Administration, Real Estate, Forestry or related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of fifteen (15) years in real estate sales, business administration, land acquisitions/dispositions, forestry or related experience is required.
  • Must have experience in real estate markets, basic understanding of finance, accounting and real estate contract law, land valuation techniques, negotiation, financial analysis and transaction management.
  • Able to demonstrate an understanding of real estate value and articulate it to others to gain acceptance on land sale proposals.
  • Adept at negotiating real estate contracts and managing complex commercial transactions.
  • Must possess effective oral and written communication skills.
