POSITION LOCATION:       Irvine, CA or San Mateo, CA

COMPANY:   Essex Property Trust (NYSE: ESS), a fully integrated real estate investment trust (REIT) that acquires, develops, redevelops, and manages multifamily residential properties in selected West Coast markets.  For details, please refer to company website:  http://www.essex.com.

RESPONSIBILITIES:  The Company is looking for a Director of Investor Relations. This person will be an integral member of the Investor Relations team of a NYSE registrant, assisting with communications and planning activities relating to institutional shareholders.  Specific responsibilities will include:

 

  • Demonstrate an understanding of Essex strategic direction and competitive differentiators with the ability to communicate those to a variety of stakeholders
  • Collaborate with other functions of the company (i.e. Operations/Finance, etc) to develop messaging and the outlook in a consistent and coordinated manner
  • Provide strategic direction to the executive team on all matters affecting the Company’s reputation and perception with the investment community
  • Establish strong relationships and effective communication with shareholders and the analyst community
  • Responsible for preparing and proper dissemination of all news releases, annual reports, investor website, presentations and various other reports and investor collateral;
  • Plan and manage investor events, meetings, roadshows, property tours and conference calls
  • Handle all media relations for the company

 

QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate will have the following:

 

  • Minimum of 7 years of related real estate industry experience required
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in finance or business is preferable
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skill set and a solid understanding of corporate financial statements
  • Strong attention to detail, written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced environment
