Job Description

The Energy & Sustainability Manager leads a variety of cross-functional energy and sustainability activities across Americas. These activities align with management agreements, client requirements and Cushman & Wakefield mission, principles and expertise to grow a unified, engaged, and responsible corporate culture that leverages best practices within the energy and sustainability fields. The E&S Manager will report into the Technical Services Group and lead all E&S Manager efforts including new technology investigations that further the client’s energy conservation efforts and sustainability goals. The E&S Manager will also have deep understanding of both mechanical and electrical systems to drive key performance outcomes that further our efforts to be on the leading edge of technology. The E&S Manager will perform energy analytics, CO2 consumption computations, and other consulting services. As a leader within the Technical Services Group the E&S Manager will actively identify revenue generating activates by leveraging their expertise as a subject matter expert.

Responsibilities

  • Possess in-depth knowledge of all mechanical, electrical, life safety and building automation systems to work positively with customers, fellow employees, outside contractors and vendors
  • Work directly with Critical Environment teams to pilot client programs and services to capture business savings and revenue generating activities that improved client value
  • Oversee client's energy curtailment program, assessing the various programs available, establishing a rapport with the various providers and making recommendations on behalf of the client accordingly
  • Lead Corporate Sustainability Advisory Board and employee engagement. Expertly advise on implementation activities, project budgets, data collection, reporting and client education activities
  • Develop, administer, and manage risk and opportunity assessments for new technologies investigations
  • Report on corporate sustainability goals, energy metrics, and other key performance indicators
  • Research and evaluate options, present recommendations, and implement programs for reducing energy usage, related conservation programs, and their related costs, for portfolio
  • Analyze energy projects in relation to existing market alternatives, cost, current infrastructure, implementation feasibility, and available incentive programs
  • Become familiar with existing client contract to identify revenue generating opportunities
  • Prepare and present presentations to both internal and external clients to articulate information to others inside and outside of the organization
  • Prepares scope of work details for new and existing projects
  • Become familiar with web-based integrated building monitoring and control interface system, and oversee its continued development and maintenance
  • Drive design and delivery of communication and engagement strategies to increase employee knowledge of sustainability
  • Be responsible for reporting of program results (external/internal), including the completion and distribution of the sustainability and energy reports and independent client reporting
  • Become familiar with the various tools for measuring carbon footprint and work to utilize in conjunction with energy and related conservation programs
  • All other duties as assigned by Technical Services Lead

Requirements

  • BS in engineering or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in class A office spaces or college/ university facilities
  • 2 to 3 years’ experience developing and implementing energy management, and sustainability programs
  • Certification in two or more of the following areas: USGBC (LEED), IFMA (SFP), AEE (CEM),
  • Familiarity with the following associations and programs such as but not limited to:
    • Association of Energy Engineers
    • ISO
      • 16813:2006 Building environment design -- Indoor environment -- General principles
      • 15392:2008 Sustainability in building construction -- General principles
      • 21929-1:2011 Sustainability in building construction -- Sustainability indicators - Part 1
      • TR 37150:2014 Smart community infrastructures -- Review of existing activities relevant to metrics
    • Demand response/curtailment
    • EPA Energy Star for buildings
    • LEED Green Building Certification programs
    • Earth Policy Institute
    • Global Exchange
    • Apollo Alliance
    • Natural Resources Canada
  • Experience with alternative power sources, energy conservation retrofits, and carbon offsets
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, with senior managerial and executive level personnel

Physical Requirements

  • Involves work of a general office nature; typically includes extended periods of sitting and/or operation of a computer for up to 8 hours a day
  • May involve periods of standing, such as operating at a copier/fax/scanner
  • Regularly required to talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to write and type
  • Ability to speak clearly so others can understand you

IMPORTANT EDUCATION

• Bachelors degree in Facilities Management, Corporate Real Estate, Project Management or Business Administration required

IMPORTANT EXPERIENCE

• Minimum of 8-10 years of facility management experience with at least 3 years at the level of Facility Manager
• Experience in leasing, construction, engineering and all facets of property operation and building management
• Experience with human resource and performance management processes
• Experience with critical system environments preferred
• CMMS/Work Order Management experience preferred
