Job Description

Manager of Capital Markets

This position will be primarily responsible for leading Sterling’s searches, negotiations with lenders, and approvals for mortgage closings and corporate debt.

  • Assist the CFO on financing and balance sheet strategies and existing maturities for property, fund, and corporate debt
  • Run broker bidding processes for new financings and refinancing, review term sheets, help negotiate terms, and review loan documents
  • Work with Acquisitions team to run returns and covenant analysis on financing options
  • Participate in the due diligence process, including liaising with lenders, internal groups, and external consultants, and facilitate loan closings
  • Work with our Asset Management and Construction teams focusing on liquidity management and future cash needs for redevelopment projects, as well as acquisitions and underwriting of potential new properties
  • Collaborate with Fund and Property Accounting regarding existing loans and draws for construction projects, as well as reporting and analyzing covenant calculations and projections for future covenant tests
  • Lead quarterly covenant reviews with senior management
  • Perform research to be used in financial modeling, competitive analysis, industry analysis, negotiation support
  • Develop relationships with Sterling’s existing lender and broker contacts, and begin to develop new relationships for Sterling

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with at least 3-5 years’ experience in accounting or finance within a commercial mortgage lending group, a mortgage broker, or a public or private real estate investor; retail real estate experience a plus
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and writing skills with the maturity and aptitude to interact with top executives
  • Highly committed, analytical, self-motivated, critical thinking mindset; a results-oriented; team player with the ability to excel under pressure
  • Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft office applications; Argus and/or Yardi experience a plus
