Vice President, Private Real Estate
The Vice President (VP) is responsible for acquiring and financing direct and joint venture (JV) real estate investments. The Vice President is charged with evaluating new JV and direct investment opportunities, managing the transaction process including preparation of investment memorandums, oversight of the due diligence process and negotiating transaction and financing documentation. Furthermore, the VP will assist with sourcing new joint venture partners as well as fostering and growing relationships with existing joint venture partners and will also develop and maintain relationships with the brokerage community to source direct investments. In addition, the VP manages, trains and mentors subordinate staff. The VP reports to the Senior Vice President in their respective office.
Responsibilities
- Review and respond to all property submissions received from brokers and prospective or existing joint venture partners.
- Generate offers for both direct and joint venture investment opportunities and negotiate and execute Letters of Understanding with prospective Sellers and/or partners.
- Direct and coordinate the underwriting and due diligence of each acquisition.
- Direct legal counsel in the preparation and negotiation of Purchase Agreements, partnership agreements and related legal and financing documentation necessary to complete the transaction.
- Identify, initiate and foster relationships with new joint venture partners, who meet the Company’s criteria and facilitate the flow of a consistent pipeline of suitable investment opportunities.
- Source and identify direct and joint venture investment opportunities, which meet the Company’s value-added investment parameters on a risk-adjusted basis.
- Maintain current market information and contacts in order to source and quickly react to investment opportunities.
- Contribute to the development and/or modification of Company macro investment strategies.
- Stay current on developments and trends in the economy and real estate industry and incorporate the most up-to-date information into analyses. Attend select seminars and conferences related to real estate.
- Manage and mentor direct reports with the goal to provide individuals with the skill set required to acquire and finance real estate investments.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in real estate, finance or accounting, required; MBA or law degree preferred.
- Five or more years of real estate investment experience.
- A comprehensive understanding of real estate and capital markets.
- Exceptional quantitative underwriting skills; Argus experience preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Motivated, self-starter, able to work independently.
- Ability to work within a small team environment.
- Willingness and ability to travel on overnight (up to 5 consecutive nights) trips.
