Job Description

We are a dynamic and growing real estate investment and development firm specializing in multifamily, mixed-use, office-to-residential conversions, and hospitality. Our portfolio includes properties across the southeastern United States, and we pride ourselves on a hands-on, entrepreneurial approach to value creation, capital deployment, and project execution.

As we continue to expand, we are seeking a seasoned Controller to lead our accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal controls with a strong focus on real estate development and investment activities.

Position Overview:
The Controller will oversee all accounting, reporting, cash management, and compliance functions for the firm’s operating companies, investment vehicles, and active development projects. The ideal candidate will bring a strong technical accounting background, a deep understanding of real estate development and investment structures, and a proactive, hands-on management style.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger maintenance, accounts payable/receivable, payroll coordination, and bank reconciliations.
  • Oversee project-specific accounting for development projects, including tracking budgets, draws, cost allocations, and lender reporting requirements.
  • Produce timely and accurate financial statements and management reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Prepare capital account statements, investor reports, and assist in fund-level accounting.
  • Lead cash management processes, including cash flow forecasting and treasury operations.
  • Coordinate and manage annual audits, tax returns, and regulatory filings with outside auditors and tax advisors.
  • Maintain and enhance internal controls, accounting policies, and financial procedures.
  • Support asset management, acquisitions, dispositions, and financing activities through financial analysis and accounting input.
  • Assist senior leadership in budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning.
  • Manage a small internal accounting team and outside consultants, with ability to scale as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 5–7+ years of relevant accounting experience, with a minimum of 3–5 years in real estate investment, development, or private equity.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP accounting standards (real estate-specific knowledge preferred).
  • Experience with development cost tracking, construction draws, lender requisitions, and investor reporting.
  • Hands-on experience working with accounting systems (e.g., Yardi, MRI, QuickBooks, or similar platforms).
  • High level of integrity, attention to detail, and ability to work independently in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
Compensation:
Competitive salary commensurate with experience, plus bonus potential and benefits package.
