Job Description
- Assist in the preparation, aggregation and review of the company’s internal and external monthly and quarterly reporting including internal management, board of director’s, lender and investor reports, primarily as it relates to the company’s financial performance
- Prepare and review external reporting, including annual audited and quarterly reviewed GAAP financial statements and footnotes, for both subsidiary and consolidated requirements and coordinate with external auditors to provide audit and review support documentation
- Prepare deliverables required per various loan agreements, including complex lender-defined NOI calculations. Work with IT to design and create new reports in order to generate requested data in an automatic fashion
- Stay abreast of new GAAP pronouncements and SEC regulations to assess the impact to the company of changing accounting and reporting practices (including the potential impact from the release of exposure drafts or other pending guidance). Write technical memos based on research and transactional information, as needed
- Review significant contracts and agreements to identify potential accounting issues that may affect the Company
- Extensive participation in property acquisition and disposition transactions, including working with various departments and 3rd party experts on closing statement reviews and purchase price allocations
- Maintain accounting and financial reporting systems, including report writing and account mapping. Work with IT to customize the systems and reports where necessary
- Provide other support on recurring or ad hoc projects, as needed
- BA/BS or higher in accounting or finance
- 5-8 years of experience in GAAP financial reporting, Big 4 public accounting is preferred
- Strong background in real estate industry lease accounting is preferred
- Strong technical proficiency in Excel and other reporting software
- Experience with MRI or BPC/Oracle reporting system is a plus
- Excellent organizational skills, detail oriented, able to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with multiple deadlines, and adapt readily to changing priorities
- Ability to research and convey technical information in a clear and concise manner verbally and in written correspondence, reports and presentations
