Position Overview:
The Vice President of Finance and Controller will play a key leadership role in overseeing our client's financial operations. Reporting directly to the leadership team and working closely with a third-party accounting firm, the selected candidate will manage all aspects of financial reporting, accounting operations, budgeting, cash management, and compliance. This position is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial statements, implementing best practices in accounting procedures, and providing strategic financial insights to support the firm’s investment activities.
 
The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in real estate investment accounting, as well as exceptional leadership and analytical skills. They should thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and be adaptable to changing demands.
 
Key Responsibilities:
·         Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and treasury functions.
·         Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports for both internal and external stakeholders.
·         Manage the budgeting and forecasting process, ensuring alignment with company objectives and investment strategies.
·         Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and any relevant industry-specific financial standards.
·         Coordinate and manage the external audit process, including preparation of audit schedules and financial documentation.
·         Work closely with the investment and asset management teams to analyze financial performance, capital structure, and cash flow management.
·         Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and controls to ensure operational efficiency and mitigate risk.
·         Support acquisitions, dispositions, and other transactions by overseeing financial due diligence and integration processes.
·         Experience with reporting to lenders and institutions would be considered a plus.
 
Qualifications:
·         Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or MBA preferred).
·         4+ years of accounting experience, preferably in real estate investment, private equity, or related industries.
·         Strong technical accounting background 
·         Strong understanding of real estate investment structures, financial modeling, and property-level accounting.
·         Experience with Yardi, MRI, or other real estate accounting software.
·         Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
·         Ability to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment with a strong attention to detail.
