JOB OPPORTUNITY: Associate, Investments & Development
Recently founded by industry veterans with decades of experience leading transformative projects at one of the country’s most prominent private equity and development platforms, the company is seeking an Associate to be an early hire as it grows. The company brings together institutional rigor with entrepreneurial drive, and it has over 3,000 units in owned land positions and an additional 2,000+ in our development pipeline.
You will work directly with the Chief Investment Officer (CIO) and Chief Development Officer (CDO) out of the company’s NYC office, gaining exposure across the entire real estate lifecycle, from acquisitions & capital structuring, to entitlements, development project execution, and asset management. This role is designed for an ambitious, high-performing individual who thrives at the intersection of investment strategy and project execution — someone ready to contribute cross-functional insights with analytical precision and operational follow-through alongside a proven leadership team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Evaluate new investment opportunities and support screening and underwriting efforts
o Create and maintain detailed development pro-formas and financial models
o Conducting market research to validate underwriting assumptions
· Managing due diligence processes
o Engaging third parties
o Coordinating with these third parties as well as operating partners and other consultants
o Reviewing third-party reports and incorporating findings into formal investment committee memoranda
· Preparing investment committee memoranda and other related materials (PowerPoint presentations)
· Assisting in investment closings: Manage the due diligence and financial closing process with equity and debt partners
o Monitor implementation of business plans post-close and help drive execution through to stabilization and/or disposition
· Engage and coordinate with a wide range of external consultants, professionals, and municipal agencies
o Collaborate with Development Principals and CDO to secure entitlements and approvals
o Interface with lenders, development partners, and government agencies, maintaining excellent documentation and communication
· Organize internal development files, track performance metrics, and support executive-level reporting
LOCATION
Based in the firm's New York City office.
QUALIFICATIONS
· 3 or more years of experience at a top-tier real estate investment bank, broker, private equity firm, developer, or accounting firm is preferred.
· Excellent quantitative and financial modeling skills
· Critical thinking/analytical abilities in real estate and beyond
· Advanced Excel experience is mandatory
· Strong command of PowerPoint
· Strong business writing skills
· Demonstrated track record of high academic achievement at a top-tier undergraduate educational institution
· Ability to work autonomously, be proactive, multi-task and thrive in a highly entrepreneurial setting
· Strict attention to detail, strong work ethic, integrity and ability to take direction
· Ability to travel as needed
