Construction Estimator

Job Description

• Prepare precise and comprehensive cost estimates for a range of construction projects from small tenant improvements to large scale developments, including office, industrial, R&D, self-storage, and mixed-use projects.
• Collaborate with the acquisition, asset management, and construction management teams to comprehend project scope, requirements, and timelines.
• Analyze project specifications, drawings, and related documents to determine labor, material, and equipment costs.
• Review all construction documents for accuracy and consistency.
• Review and evaluate bids from subcontractors and suppliers to ensure alignment with project requirements and budget.
• Maintain a database of historical cost data and industry benchmarks to support the estimation process.
• Identify potential risks and provide recommendations for cost-saving measures without compromising quality or safety.
• Assist with the preparation of bid proposals and contract documents.
• Collaborate with accounting to track project costs, ensuring accurate collection of data to inform future cost estimates.
• Support the procurement process by assisting in the selection of vendors and subcontractors.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure the smooth execution of projects from pre-construction through completion.
• Stay informed about industry trends, material costs, and best practices in construction to improve the accuracy of estimates.

• A bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field is highly preferred.
• At least 3-5 years of experience as a construction estimator, with a primary focus on commercial projects.
• Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and cost estimation techniques.
• Proficiency in construction estimation software and the Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and Word.
• Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with both internal and external teams.
• Strong analytical skills and keen attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of local building codes, regulations, and industry standards is a plus.
• Familiarity with sustainable construction practices and cost-effective solutions is desirable.
