Job Description
Report directly to the Chief Investment Officer at a growing multifamily value-add and development investment firm located in the Brickell neighborhood in the heart of Miami. You will be responsible for assisting in the creation of the business plan and executing defined objectives for multifamily properties the firm owns throughout Texas and the Southeast. The role will oversee all aspects of asset management and oversee our third-party property managers. Tasks will include portfolio optimization, reporting, property management oversight, management of construction project bidding and completion, financial analysis, accounting and various reporting/communication associated with investment partners and property managers involved in each deal.
Responsibilities:
- Management of a portfolio of value-add multifamily assets in the Sunbelt Region
- Oversee the asset management team with support from other seasoned asset management team members
- Work closely with the Chief Investment Officer in achieving optimal portfolio occupancy, value creation and operating efficiency as well as involvement in deal acquisitions, dispositions, capital raise and deal structuring.
Asset Management duties include:
- Create and oversee short and long-term business plans for newly acquired assets
- Deliver timely and accurate budgets and meet financial reporting needs for investors
- Work with third-party property management company to ensure renovation deadlines are managed and met
- Conduct weekly calls with third party management to track progress of property and determine strategy to optimize performance
- Perform long-term analyses using Excel to project future cash flows and total return
- Handle miscellaneous tasks that relate to the asset such as lender requests, third party reports, working with contractors and vendors to achieve optimal pricing
- Collaborate with other departments such as Accounting and Acquisitions
- Meet weekly with the senior management to recommend and discuss all strategic decision making with assets under management
Qualifications and Desired Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree from a four-year university in real estate, finance, accounting, or related field of study. Masters degree in applicable field or other qualifications highly valued.
- 5 - 15 years of experience in asset management with a multifamily focused commercial real estate firm
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook required
- Ability to multitask and handle multiple projects at once
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop and foster industry relationships
- High levels of organization and keen attention to detail
- Working knowledge of real estate valuation and financial modeling, including the ability to create cash flow models from scratch
- Ability to read and interpret property financial statements including income statements, balance sheets, and ledgers
- Ability to travel for site visits and property tours as needed
