KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
General Accounting:
• Prepare and enter journal entries for fixed assets, accruals, deferred rent, prepayments, and other balance sheet accounts.
• Participate in all aspects of month-end close and close analysis.
• Review rent rolls, accounts receivable reports, and other related reports to ensure financial reports tie to the general ledger.
• Prepare sales and use tax filings as necessary.
Financial Reporting:
• Compile and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for real estate portfolios.
• Provide explanations for any Income Statement accounts with variances exceeding prescribed thresholds compared to the budget.
• Prepare and review funding requisition packages for development projects.
Property Management Support:
• Oversee all phases of accounts payable, including vendors, invoices, W9s, and insurance.
• Code invoices for property-level accounts and enter them into the accounting system.
• Assist with lease abstracts and administration.
• Prepare, review, and analyze tenant CAM charges and reconciliations.
• Support receivables by tracking and following up on tenant delinquencies.
• Coordinate property inspections, walkthroughs, and other related activities.
• Work collaboratively with property managers, asset managers, and third-party management companies.
• Compile due diligence documentation for property acquisitions.
• Create and track move-in checklists for tenants.
• Miscellaneous tasks such as file maintenance, responding to service requests, and other assigned duties.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in commercial real estate accounting.
• Advanced knowledge of GAAP and accrual-based accounting.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Detail-oriented and highly organized.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
