Job Description
- Cain International is seeking an Investment Analyst to support its Private Equity and Real Estate Equity teams.
- The Investment Analyst will be responsible for the timely production of accurate financial modelling and analysis of investment opportunities predominantly in the lifestyle, leisure, and hospitality sectors. This includes analysis of corporate operating businesses as well as real estate asset and portfolio-level acquisition and development opportunities.
- They will provide support in the identification and evaluation of investment opportunities and the preparation of investment proposals, including research on the relevant markets. Successful candidates will be expected to be involved in projects that vary in value and may be involved in several projects in varying stages of analysis.
- The Investment Analyst will also support the asset management of existing Private Equity investments, including follow-on investments and investor reporting.
- Accurate financial modelling and analysis of new investment opportunities and approved investment strategies on a regular basis, and explain variances and results therein utilizing Excel, generating key performance indicators including unlevered and levered IRR’s, equity multiples, and running sensitivities.
- Providing research data supporting the key underwriting assumptions using a combination of Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
- Gaining a full understanding of all the underwriting assumptions and testing these to optimize returns i.e., capital structure, debt/equity, business plan, legal and tax structure, management and staff incentivization, capex programs, leases, growth rates, exit multiples, ramp-up periods, operating expenses, etc.
- Assist in the preparation of Investment Committee memos, presentations, papers, etc.
- Gain exposure to negotiating key legal agreements, including management, operating, and partnership agreements
- Updating Investment models with historic and projected cash flows on a quarterly basis to track all forecast investment performance.
- Reviewing analysis results with the Private Equity group’s leadership and submitting quarterly reporting to the relevant board, within deadlines.
- Preparing coherent and accurate financial analysis and investment performance results for Quarterly Reports, Quarterly Review, Board Meetings and Investment Committee meetings, as required.
