Job Description

Based in New York, NY, or Santa Monica, CA the Analyst, US Real Estate Debt Investments, will report to the Vice President, US Real Estate Debt Investments and will support all members of the US Real Estate Debt team in New York and Los Angeles. The Analyst position is a junior professional role, actively participating and supporting the Real Estate Debt team to execute and manage investment opportunities. The Analyst plays a key role in the analysis and underwriting of new mortgage investment opportunities and monitoring existing portfolio investments.  The Analyst also plays a supporting role in conducting detailed due diligence, negotiations and structuring transactions.

Responsibilities 
  • Analyze, underwrite, structure, and prepare investment memorandums for new investment opportunities across property types
  • Conduct market research leveraging external databases, discussions with market participants, and internal research tools to support investment opportunities across multiple markets and asset classes
  • Create and maintain detailed cashflow and valuation models for new investment opportunities
  • Interpret financial analysis results and identify key investment merits and risks
  • Conduct thorough due diligence of investment documents, third-party reports, market data, and legal documentation to support new loan origination
  • Assist in the monitoring and management of existing investments including construction draw process
  • Assist in preparing portfolio strategies
  • Monitor and update investment pipeline
  • Works as a real estate team member and provides support, assistance, and back-up to other team members
  • Stay current on functional, organizational, industry, market, political and economic events that impact analyst responsibilities and real estate investments internationally
  • Actively adhere to compliance and risk management policies in addition to participating in business continuity planning
Experience 
  • Education – Undergraduate university degree in Real Estate, Finance, Economics, Mathematics/Statistics, Business or a related field.
  • Experience – 0-3 years of industry experience underwriting commercial real estate mortgages, in an institutional environment, with a solid understanding of the real estate industry.
  • Analytical – Strong quantitative and analytical skills with the ability to construct complex financial models; detail-oriented and proficient in handling and analyzing complicated data sets; be resourceful in seeking and consolidating information from a variety of sources. Able to grasp complex issues and the bigger picture and problem solve.
  • Communication – Excellent communication and presentation skills; demonstrate an ability to produce concise and effective communication materials and tactfully present results that articulate key themes and messages to all levels in the organization.
  • Organization – Must be able to take initiative and take ownership of projects to produce high quality work product with minimal supervision; ability to thrive in a fast-paced, fluid and dynamic work environment dedicated to excellence; ability to prioritize multiple demands, plan and allocate time effectively, work under pressure, and meet tight deadlines; flexible and adaptive to new ideas and constant changes; ability to produce accurate and reliable work product while also grasping the bigger picture; possess intellectual curiosity and a strong desire to learn and develop.
  • Software – Must have advanced knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint and Word; knowledge of Argus Enterprise a plus.
  • Relationship – Must be extremely proactive with the ability to develop and sustain collaborative and effective working relationships with all personalities; ability to exercise discretion and strict confidentiality; ability to identify, anticipate and address stakeholders’ needs.

The expected annualized base salary range for this role is $95,000 - $110,000 USD. 
The actual salary offered will take into consideration a wide array of factors including, but not limited to, the individual’s skill, experience, education and training, the market compensation of the role, and the consideration to internal equity.
