Stockbridge is a real estate investment management firm led by seasoned senior professionals averaging 25+ years of real estate industry experience. The firm was founded in 2003 and manages real estate equity investments across the risk spectrum within a variety of investment structures on behalf of U.S. and foreign institutional investors. Stockbridge has approximately $33.9 billion of assets under management spanning all major real estate property types, and certain specialty property types with an emphasis on residential and industrial space throughout the United States. The firm has offices in San Francisco, Atlanta, Chicago, Denver, Dallas, and Phoenix. 
 
Opportunity and Position Summary:
The Closing Analyst will work for the Client Reporting Group of Stockbridge, overseeing closings on behalf of Core and Value Advisors (“CVA”), a Registered Investment Advisor with the Securities and Exchange Commission. CVA has approximately $17.9 billion dollars of assets under management in all classes of real estate and 200 assets. CVA’s acquisition process is led by the Acquisitions Group and the disposition process is led by the Capital Markets and Asset Management Group, and these processes include many procedural and control steps (collectively, “controls”). The Closing Group is responsible for ensuring these controls are adhered too, for agreeing the closing statement for each transaction, for communicating the status of CVA’s acquisition and disposition activity to the firm and assists with the transition of an asset from the acquisition phase to the asset management phase.
Given the inconsistent pace of closing-related work, the Closing Analyst will also be provided special projects from Portfolio and Asset Management, Client Reporting, Compliance and the Acquisition Group. The firm believes this role to be perfect for a candidate with strong numerate and communication skills who is looking to get quick exposure on how a real estate investment firm works.  This is a terrific role for the right candidate who wants to learn about real estate and possibly transition to other positions within the firm in the future.
 
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Works with Acquisitions, Capital Markets, Asset Management and Client Reporting to determine the closing schedule and capital requirements to close an acquisition, ensuring that capital is funded at the appropriate time.
  • Tracks closing calendar daily to ensure deliverables are being met (deposits, equity requirement calculations, and legal entity set up).
  • Participates in meetings regarding entity structure and closing timelines.
  • Works with the title company, legal counsel, buyer or seller, partner, Transaction Team, Portfolio and Asset Management and Client Reporting, to agree and approve closing statements.
  • Assists with purchase and sale agreement proration negotiations.
  • Works with buyers, sellers and partners to agree prorations in accordance with the purchase and sale agreement.
  • Drafts a Prorations Memorandum for all acquisitions and dispositions.
  • Creates an Acquisition Closing Binder for all acquisitions evidencing key procedures through the Acquisition process, and completes a Disposition Closing Binder for all dispositions evidencing key procedures through the disposition process.
  • Collates investment data to populate Yardi.
  • Attends weekly investment pipeline meetings.
  • Takes Investment Committee minutes and Investment Allocation minutes.
  • Works with Compliance quarterly to ensure all policies were adhered to and documented.
  • Drafts weekly email summarizing the log of pending transactions for the firm and legal counsel.
 
Skills and Competencies:
  • All candidates must have a BA or BS degree from an accredited institution, ideally in Accounting, Business or related field.
  • An ideal candidate would have 2-4 years of professional experience.
  • Computer proficiency with a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to function both in a team-oriented setting and independently. Ability to foster strong relationships internally and externally.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skill.
  • Strong sense of personal motivation, responsibility, and entrepreneurship.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
