Job Description
Our client is a privately held real estate investment management firm headquartered in Minneapolis, MN. With over 25 years of experience, the firm specializes in private commercial real estate investments on behalf of high-net-worth and institutional investors. Currently, the firm manages approximately $1 billion in AUM and has acquired 42 million square feet of industrial real estate across 15 states since its inception.
Position Overview:
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented real estate finance professional with exceptional financial analysis skills. This newly created position will lead financial and performance analysis efforts, as well as asset valuation. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of closed-end fund structures, real estate investment strategies, and financial reporting processes.
This role will collaborate closely with internal teams, including finance, investments, asset management, and investor relations, to optimize fund performance and maintain the integrity of financial operations. This position provides an excellent opportunity to work across all facets of the business.
While preference will be given to local candidates, strong candidates located elsewhere will also be considered.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and maintain financial models to forecast fund performance and investment returns
• Conduct promote waterfall calculations, liaise with Fund Administrator, ensure compliance with LP agreements
• Collaborate with the Investment Team and assist in conducting analysis of and underwriting prospective acquisitions
• Work closely with the Asset Management team to conduct quarterly property valuations and participate in Valuation Committee meetings
• Be an active leader within the Finance team to implement best practices, suggest process improvements, and participate in other strategic operational initiatives
• Collaborate on deliverables and projects with other teams including Finance, Investments, Asset Management, and Investor Relations
• Assist with completing institutional investor data requests and preparation of financial information for investor presentations
Qualifications:
• Prior real estate closed-end fund experience required with at least seven years of related work experience
• Strong understanding of real estate valuation and investment metrics
• Proficient in financial analysis and modeling distribution waterfalls
• Excellent analytical, reasoning, and critical thinking skills
• Knowledge of fair value accounting standards and fund operations
• Advanced proficiency in Excel & Argus. Familiarity with Yardi a plus
• High attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
• A strong sense of ownership and accountability
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team with exceptional organizational skills and a strong proficiency with multi-tasking
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including a high standard of professionalism and responsiveness with both internal and external stakeholders
• Undergraduate degree in finance, accounting, or similar
• CFA, CAIA, and/or CPA desirable
