Job Description

Our SelectLeaders client is seeking an experienced and dynamic Vice President of Property Management to oversee the strategic and operational aspects of our diverse property portfolio. The VP of Property Management will provide leadership across multiple departments, ensuring optimal property performance while maintaining strong relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders. This role requires expertise in HR, property management, field operations, insurance, construction, and business development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee property management operations, ensuring compliance with USDA regulations and affordable housing guidelines.
  • Supervise senior and mid-level managers, conduct regular site visits, and review property management policies.
  • Manage vacancies, receivables, payables, and capital improvement projects, with a focus on maintaining operational excellence.
  • Lead and develop a team of 40 associates, fostering engagement and professional growth.
  • Oversee career development programs, employee engagement initiatives, and annual compliance training.
  • Manage payroll, employee relations, recruitment, and policy updates in collaboration with HR.
  • Ensure adherence to Fair Housing regulations and facilitate regulatory training.
  • Handle insurance claims, inspections, and compliance with carrier requirements.
  • Lead rehabilitation project oversight, USDA-related processes, and ensure project milestones are met.
  • Expand third-party management contracts and explore market opportunities in DC and Virginia.
  • Collaborate with ownership on new investments and financing strategies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Real Estate, or a related field
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in property management with a focus on affordable housing
  • Proven track record of leadership, team building, and operational management within an affordable housing real estate firm
  • Strong financial acumen with the ability to manage budgets, oversee financial performance, and implement cost-effective strategies
  • Experience working with affordable housing, USDA regulations, and multifamily properties is highly desirable
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in property management software and financial modeling tools
  • Ability to travel regularly to southern Maryland properties
