Job Description
- Assisting with all aspects of the loan origination process, including borrower and broker client management, preparing financial models, structuring, term sheet and loan document negotiation, due diligence, and closing of investments across transitional bridge loans, CMBS loans, mezzanine debt, and JV equity opportunities.
- Working directly with a senior team member in the Originations Group to develop and maintain relationships with existing and new borrowers and brokers and other sources of commercial mortgage loan origination and other investment opportunities.
- Assisting in the due diligence process, including presenting investment opportunities to Ladder’s investment committee for approval.
- Working closely with legal counsel and internal legal to negotiate term sheets, loan agreements, property level diligence, inter- creditor agreements and related legal documentation.
- Maintain collateral files for Ladder’s lenders, investors, rating agencies and internal asset management and trading departments.
- Perform property tours of prospective or active investment and new business travel as required.
- BA/BS degree in Finance, Economics, Real Estate, or related discipline preferred.
- 1-3 years of experience in the real estate finance industry (debt experience preferred).
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, with a focus on Excel, knowledge of Argus Software a plus.
- Exceptional organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Candidate will have a significant desire to learn and grow within the real estate finance industry.
- Exposure to legal documentation and due diligence in a transactional environment a plus
- Ability to work on multiple transactions at a time in a fast paced, deadline-driven and entrepreneurial work environment.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated worker with the ability and flexibility to work in a dynamic, team setting as well as independently.
