Job Description

Seeking an experienced Real Estate Analyst/Associate to join an active real estate acquisition team. The team is currently in an active expansion mode building out its New York City investment portfolio across multiple asset classes.  
 
THE COMPANY:
We are a 70 plus-year-old privately held vertically integrated owner, operator, property manager and developer of commercial real estate in the New York Tri-State Region. The Acquisitions and Development team pursues institutional-sized value-oriented investments and projects through proprietary and off-market transactions that have the potential to out-perform. Investment team is a 3-person group that has invested over $2 billion across 10 transactions over last 5 years. 
 
EXPERIENCE:
A candidate must have no less than 1-3 years of relevant real estate underwriting experience. 
 
Key Responsibilities: 
  • Assembling and modifying cash flow projection models for investment, development, and asset management teams, utilizing both Excel and Argus. 
  • Assist with all due diligence relating to new investments including but not limited to the review of third party environmental and engineering reports, title, survey, historical financial statements, leases, and market research. 
  • Assembling and drafting investment memos to be presented to executive, investors and lenders. 
  • Monitor and analyze the financial performance of properties and portfolios. 
  • Create/maintain portfolio models. 
  • Assist with monthly distributions, lender draws, financing and disposition transactions. 
  • Assist with preparation and review of property-level, portfolio level and investors/lender reporting. 
  • Prepare ad-hoc reports when needed. 
  • Assist with special projects as needed. 
 
Qualifications:
  • Strong skills in financial analysis and modeling stabilized cash flows and development projects in excel.
  • High proficiency in Argus ideal.
  • At least one year of analytical real estate experience working in private equity, lending or owner/developer.
  • Experience in the investment underwriting both commercial and residential asset types. Experience underwriting development opportunities is preferred. 
  • Experience in preparing written investment recommendations and participating in investment opportunity presentations.
  • Candidate should be proactive and self-motivated with a strong work ethic and possess the ability to execute effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. 
  • Candidate must possess strong interpersonal communication and writing skills as well as a high degree of integrity.
  • This is an in-office position.  Candidate must be New York based and be able to work out of the office in Manhattan.
 
A modeling case study will be part of the application process.
