The Picerne Group is a privately held and internally funded investment company founded in 1988.  Our areas of focus have been in distressed debt investment in the United States, Europe, and Asia; acquisition of existing multi-family assets in the western United States; entitlement and acquisition of land for luxury multi-family development, primarily in southern California; and construction, property management and asset management of our multi-family portfolio. 

 

The Picerne Group currently owns and manages a portfolio of approximately 4,000 Class A apartment units in its core markets of Southern California, Las Vegas, and Denver and has a development pipeline of nearly 3,000 units concentrated in irreplaceable coastal Southern California locations. We invest only our own equity and focus on the long term by building-to-own as opposed to building-to-sell. Our independence from outside capital shapes our ability to bring an entrepreneurial approach to everything we do and invest through any economic climate.

 

Job Description:

The Finance Analyst will support all facets of the company’s financing efforts including (i) debt and equity procurement and execution (ii) debt and equity portfolio management, and (iii) liquidity management. In this role, you will work on deals throughout the entire deal lifecycle and contribute to investment strategy, acquisition, development, and asset management efforts. This position is based at our corporate headquarters in Newport Beach, CA and reports to the VP of Finance.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Support the execution of real estate debt and equity transactions from procurement through closing.
  • Underwriting and financial modeling.
  • Debt and equity portfolio management (manage interest rate exposure; identify refinance opportunities; monitor lender covenants).
  • Maintain liquidity schedules and prepare liquidity forecasts.
  • Support the debt and equity reporting process.
  • Prepare presentation materials and investment committee memorandums.

 

Required Experience and Skills:

  • This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree level education from a top-tier college with an emphasis in Business, Finance, Real Estate, Economics or another related discipline.
  • 2-5 years’ experience in real estate debt and/or equity capital markets.
  • In depth knowledge of lender underwriting practices and loan provisions.
  • Understanding of joint venture structures.
  • Experience running a debt/equity transaction closing process is required.
  • Experience negotiating debt and equity legal documents is preferred but not required.
  • Exposure to multifamily development is preferred but not required.
  • Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills.
  • Strong written communication skills.
  • Highly organized and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment.
