Job Description

The Director Responsible Investment (Environmental, Sustainability and Social Initiatives) will support and participate in the development, implementation, and delivery of the Affinius Capital Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) program, strategy, guidelines, and performance reporting for Affinius Capital. The Director will play a key role in guiding a team of consultants to provide expert advice on environmental, social, and governance issues to help Affinius achieve sustainable growth and compliance with ESG standards.

Essential Duties:

  • Collaborate with internal and external cross-functional teams, senior leaders, and external partners to drive meaningful ESG practices and disclosures.
  • Directly oversee and manage vendors/consultants to ensure alignment with ESG goals and contract specifications as well as maintain insight on industry trends.
  • Oversee and manage effective voluntary and mandatory ESG reporting to ensure appropriate disclosures and transparency with Affinius Capital stakeholders.
  • Oversee the development, implementation, and execution of Affinius Capital policies, guidelines, programs, and procedures. This includes educating, supporting, and soliciting input on the firm’s Environmental, Social and Governance focus areas.
  • Coordinate relevant training and education of industry best practices to internal departments, including but not limited to Asset Management, Acquisitions, Development, Global Investors Group and partners where needed.
  • Provide leadership, coaching and management to the Sustainability Associate.
  • Actively participate and guide the ESG Advisory Council.
  • Support and promote various sustainable practices and social initiatives that foster positive impact and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Continue to develop strategies to increase data coverage across all operating properties in ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager including tracking energy, water, and waste consumption.
  • Research, engage, manage, and support ESG service providers and contractor engagements across the firm including contract negotiation, implementation of services, and evaluation of vendors to ensure continuous improvement and scope modification when needed.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelors degree from an accredited university
  • 7+ years of relevant experience
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Self-starter; capable of developing and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to work well in a matrix organizational structure
  • Enterprise-wide organizational change experience and communication strategy knowledge
  • Comfortable interfacing with clients when necessary
  • Previous management experience ideal
  • Occasional travel required
  • Must be willing to work on-site full-time
  • Qualifications may warrant placement in a different job title.
