Job Description
Avison Young, a commercial real estate company, is seeking a Proposal Writer for its client, American Realty Advisors (ARA), to support ARA’s asset management team. As an Avison Young employee, this position will work out of ARA’s Los Angeles office and work exclusively on ARA’s client’s portfolio of commercial real estate assets. This position services ARA in their execution of ARA’s operating strategy and on ARA’s national real estate investment portfolio.
Opportunity
You will be responsible for completing product and ARA RFIs/RFPs/DDQs and other data requests from consultants and prospects related to existing and potential clients, as well as ensuring the accuracy and consistency of marketing and descriptive language in these external documents. This role involves working across all ARA departments: Investor Relations, Sales/Client Service Research, Asset Management, Portfolio Management, Compliance, Accounting and Senior Leadership teams.
This role is based in ARA's downtown Los Angeles office or ARA’s downtown Chicago office.
Essential Functions:
- Respond to and track RFPs, RFIs and DDQs received from consultants and potential new clients by drafting and completing written investment proposals and quantitative data requests. Create and maintain accurate and persuasive language regarding ARA investment processes, product advantages, and compelling responses for sales and consultant relations documents.
- Develop a thorough understanding of ARA’s products and investment strategies in order to deliver industry leading qualitative and quantitative content concisely and accurately.
- Work closely with subject matter experts across the organization including compliance, human resources, ESG, portfolio management, investor relations, asset management, research, accounting, and technology.
- Update consultant databases with ARA and product information quarterly or on an as-needed basis.
- Coordinate the consolidation of quarterly report data across investment products by receiving and populating information from the Investor Relations, Asset Management, Investment, and Accounting Departments for utilization in responding to investment consultant questionnaires.
- Deliver reports under strict deadlines, balancing the need for speed and efficiency with quality analysis and crisp writing that enhances ARA's institutional brand.
- Bachelor's degree, emphasis in journalism, English, marketing, communications, or political science preferred.
- A minimum three to five years of direct experience leading, writing, editing and preparing RFPs, preferably at an investment management or final services performing consultant questionnaires, RFP writing or data analytics, preferably at an investment management or financial services firm.
- Familiarity with or understanding of real estate investments preferred.
- Effective communication, writing, proofreading, and editing skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and software utilized in the organization (i.e. Salesforce, Tableau), and familiarity with proposal automation software.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel preferred, including use of pivot tables, arrays, conditional formatting, complex formulas, etc.
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple action items at once and to work independently as well as collaboratively, both within the portfolio management team and with ARA's professionals.
- Strong project management and multi-tasking abilities.
- Understand ARA's goals, the institutional investment management environment, and institutional real estate products, as well as competitive real estate investment strategies.
