Job Description

About the role

CBRE Design Collective is a global design practice comprised of over 400 designers, architects, engineers, and technical experts in Architecture, Interior Design, and Engineering. In solving for our client's needs, we are strengthened by the vast resources and services that comprise the CBRE brand. As a fast-growing firm, we need our contributors to be their best self, showcasing their talents and having fun!

We are seeking an Interior Design Lead to join the Intuit account and function as an embedded designer within a key client's Design Team. This person will be a part of the CBRE Design Collective and connected to our global platform of resources, support, and mentorship, but will sit at our client's office in San Francisco and focus on the design of their spaces.

At Intuit, the Interior Design Lead is an individual contributor and will form part of a small team of design professionals under the direction of the Intuit Global Design Strategy Leader.

We are looking for a dynamic, engaged and collaborative individual with experience as a workplace interior architect or interior designer to lead the planning and design of spaces in service to our client's domestic and international growth.

In collaboration with the client Design Team, you will have an outstanding opportunity to contribute to the "Workplace of the Future" design thinking and our ongoing conversation about the evolving role of the office. Your new perspective and outside-in experience will bring a 'Day One' mindset that will accelerate our approach to the workplace as a differentiator that will increase our client's competitive advantage in talent markets across our global geographies. You will contribute to the organization's goal of positive velocity (speed with impact) through 10x thinking.

What you'll do

You will be specifically responsible for guiding the design of projects, which typically comprise five types of work efforts (including but not limited to):

  • Workplace capital projects: new spaces or renovations/refreshes of existing spaces
  • Enterprise-wide rollouts of Brand, AV upgrades or other operationally generated programs that impact workplace design
  • Pilot projects to test new ways of working
  • Sophisticated or impactful furniture and space reconfigurations driven by the Space Management team
  • Refreshes driven by the Workplace Services team

You may be asked to assist the Design Strategy Leader on master planning or other special projects.
  • Conduct programming efforts to advise real estate requirements and lead all aspects of test fits to advise site selection activities.
  • Build Requests for Proposals for architectural design services in partnership with our Project Management partners and assist with the scoping and selection of consultants for planning, projects and research.
  • Engage and lead internal and external partners to build innovative, high-performing and agile workplaces that enable Intuit teams to build products that power prosperity and that align with Intuit goals for sustainability, DEI, innovation, and well-being.
  • Assure compliance with the design approach and adherence to budget and schedule
  • Collaborate with the Places Team and other internal partners to contribute to the update of the Design Guidelines focusing on continual improvement through learnings, benchmarks and innovative thinking.
  • Maintain an active knowledge of design industry best practices, benchmarking, emerging concepts and trends to assure that spaces provide a competitive advantage.
  • Partner with the Capital Projects and Development team to provide input for the creation of project budgets and schedules.
  • Work with the Design Strategy Lead and Director of Global Real Estate on major capital projects, master plans and real estate strategy issues
  • Make FF&E recommendations and research new product offerings
  • Some occasional travel may be required

What you'll need
  • Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design from a four-year college or university with a Council for Interior Design Accreditation curriculum, OR a Bachelor's Degree (B.S. or B.Arch) or Master's Degree (M.Arch) in Architecture from a four-year+ college or university with an accredited architectural curriculum (National Architectural Accrediting Board or Canadian Architectural Certification Board).
  • 13+ years of experience of planning, programming and design experience, preferably including 5+ years of team leadership, client relationship management and/or project management for corporate workplace tenant improvement projects
  • Architecture licensure or Interior Design certification / licensure is required.
  • NCIDQ or NCARB certification is preferred.
  • Relevant professional accreditations including LEED, WELL, etc. are preferred.
  • Proficiency with Revit, Bluebeam, Adobe Creative Suite, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Smartsheet, and Google Workplace.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and construction management tools such as Procore are preferred.
  • Proven ability to provide Thought and Design Leadership on key projects and programs.
