About the job:

Kawa is looking to expand the investments team by adding a junior Commercial Real Estate Investments Analyst or Associate. Ideal candidates will be analytical, organized, driven, enterprising, and independent thinkers and be able to multitask and work effectively within all internal groups in a delimited, horizontal environment. We guarantee a fast-paced and challenging environment where the successful candidate will learn the ins and outs of commercial real estate finance. The prevailing candidate will be involved in all phases of the firm’s commercial real estate investments. The position will be based on-site in Hallandale Beach, FL.

Responsibilities will include:

• Closely read and analyze financial statements, property documents, legal documents, and third-party reports as part of the due diligence process.
• Critically assess risk/reward of owned and potential investments
• Perform complex financial modeling analysis, primarily in Excel.
• Underwrite commercial real estate transactions and prepare market analysis reports.
• Review historical CMBS transactions and update go-forward market assumptions.
• Create and maintain financial models in Argus.
• Manage multiple client and vendor relationships by communicating via email, phone and at onsite meetings.
• Position is currently based in Hallandale Beach, Florida.
• Travel required, as needed (for site visits, meetings with partners and customers as well as conferences)
• Additional responsibilities, as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Experience working with Excel (VBA a plus), Argus, Bloomberg, and other CRE data sources, including, but not limited to, REIS CoStar, Trepp, RCA and PropertyShark, for example .
• Experience in a variety of assets and situations are preferred.
• Excellent quantitative, organizational, interpersonal, writing and communication skills.
• Self-motivated, team-oriented, and strong time management skills.
• At least two years of experience in a financial analysis role or related position and / or including at least one year of experience in the commercial real estate industry in a research
• Strong research, analytical and problem-solving skills.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Business Administration, or Accounting is preferred, but liberal arts in particular, as well as all disciplines will be considered.
• Internship experience in the aforementioned areas is acceptable.
• Knowledge of the commercial real estate underwriting and diligence processes and ability to independently create underwriting models.
