REAL ESTATE CREDIT OVERVIEW
KKR Real Estate Credit was formed in January 2015 to invest in real estate credit products and complement KKR Real Estate’s private equity platforms. Within KKR Real Estate Credit, we seek opportunities where we have a sourcing, underwriting or execution advantage by leveraging KKR’s brand, industry knowledge and relationships. KKR Real Estate Credit currently invests through six separately capitalized vehicles across our Direct Lending and Securities portfolios and consists of 50+ dedicated professionals based in New York, San Francisco, Houston and Dallas.
KKR has developed a dedicated services platform, K-Star Asset Management LLC (“K-Star”), to support asset management, loan origination, securities investing, risk management and client experience for its real estate credit franchise as it continues to scale. The K-Star team will include industry specialists to oversee special servicing, stabilized loan asset management, transitional loan asset management, and investment oversight across KKR’s real estate credit portfolio. 

POSITION OVERVIEW
K-Star is seeking an enthusiastic, intelligent, and diligent analyst to join the Compliance Department. The analyst will be responsible for assisting team members with the oversight, reporting, and active management within the new and growing asset management / servicing business. The qualified candidate should be able to monitor the investments' performance for credit and compliance and will be expected to participate in special assignments related to the growth of the platform. This candidate must be an exceptional communicator with a goal towards stellar process execution, and must have the ability to build strong partnerships across the various KKR businesses, including the Firm’s real estate credit originations, legal, finance and asset management teams.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide compliance, oversight, monitoring and reporting for K-Star’s asset management and servicing platform
  • Assist with the ongoing maintenance of the compliance program, including compliance testing, drafting and updating policies and procedures, employee training, and assisting in the preparation for and responding to audits and reviews
  • Assist in coordinating relevant Compliance and Internal Audit Committee materials
  • Assisting with the preparation of K-Star’s annual compliance review, including ongoing maintenance of compliance risk assessments and assisting with testing and monitoring of Compliance controls
  • Assist in coordinating with colleagues in the Legal/Compliance team and other teams to identify and address any gaps between existing processes, including information barrier management and restricted list analysis
  • Coordinate with broader teams to prepare responses to rating agency servicing review materials and responding to SOC-1 process
  • Participate in regulatory / industry initiatives relating to new regulations and other issues relevant to the asset management and servicing business
  • Participate in special projects as needed to implement and maximize new technologies to support K-Star’s platform
QUALIFICATIONS 
  • Minimum 3-5 years of relevant compliance experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in commercial real estate finance or servicing
  • Strong project management skills
  • Consistent attention to detail; acts professionally regarding sensitive subjects and maintains confidentiality while exercising discretion at all times
  • Sound interpersonal skills and relationship building abilities
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Effective communication skills including strong written communication skills for report writing and analysis
  • Proven ability to manage multiple demands and projects in a fast-paced work environment, including ability to prioritize time efficiently and handle heavy workloads while remaining attentive to detail
  • Team player with collaborative and strong relationship building skills, and with the ability to work independently and in a way that reflects the company’s culture and core values
  • Skilled at developing and maintaining personal, social and business relationships representing KKR in a professional manner
