Job Description
Lloyd Jones is a national real estate investment firm focused on senior housing. To implement a new strategy of autonomous regional divisions, the firm is looking for Chief Investment Officer for the Midwest region.
POSITION SUMMARY
In partnership with a regional COO, the CIO will have bottom-line responsibility for the regional profitability – and enjoy proportionate compensation. The CIO will be charged with the identification, underwriting, and acquisition of each investment as well as the financial health of the entire regional portfolio. As a partner, the COO will be responsible for the operations of the regional portfolio pursuant to mutually agreed upon business plans. Together, the CIO and COO make decisions.
This is an executive position, charged with the financial and investment decisions within the region including complex equity and financing deal structures. The CIO will provide risk management oversight of the regional portfolio and develop policies to protect the assets including tax-related strategies. He/she also plays a key role in developing and maintaining key external relationships including financial institutions, brokers, owners, and investors.
The CIO will report solely to the chairman of Lloyd Jones.
If selected, you will be expected to travel throughout your region on a frequent basis to inspect potential acquisitions and the regional portfolio. Corporate meetings will also be held on a monthly basis or as necessary.
This is your opportunity to “run your own business” with the support and collaboration of the other highly experienced regional CIOs. In addition, the Lloyd Jones corporate team including accounting, HR, insurance, etc. will add support as requested.
You, together with the COO, run the business. Your region’s profitability is your joint responsibility.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
It would be impossible to list all the tasks, as this is an all-encompassing leadership position with bottom-line responsibility.
- Serve as the investment executive across your region.
- Engage in all key transactions, particularly deal structuring, closings of acquisitions and dispositions, recapitalizations.
- Develop and implement strategic incentives to increase the portfolio revenues and returns for our internal and external stakeholders.
- Assume responsibility for ensuring all activities of the firm are executed to the highest standards.
- Provide strong financial- and investment-related insight.
- Analyze economic, business, and financial conditions in the marketplace as they affect the firm’s operations and financial position and respond as necessary.
- Participate in the investment committee (composed of other regional CIOs) to continue developing and executing short- and long-term financial objectives.
TARGET PROFESSIONAL PROFILE
- Experience as a Chief Investment Officer for a high-growth real estate platform; minimum of 5 years in an executive-level leadership role.
- Knowledge of the senior living industry is helpful.
- Ability to understand and negotiate complex equity and financing deal structures.
- Experience interacting with financial institutions and private equity investors.
- Degree in finance, accounting, investment real estate or related field.
- Easy access to airport or major highway system for regional travel.
