Analyst - $73k-$83k profit sharing - Underwriting, Consulting, Lending, CMBS – Commercial Real Estate

 

STATUS:

Full time contract to perm based in our business/business casual office on 5th Avenue at Bryant Park. Immediate hire new position created by company growth.

WE ARE: a small consulting shop providing perfectionist-level agile support on an hourly, project, or fixed-term basis to those who buy, sell, lend, or manage all types of commercial real estate located in the US.  We perform a range of services including underwriting, pipeline management, deal advisory, site inspections, comps research, pitch books, Excel modeling, etc. Supported strategies include debt and equity for construction, value-add, bridge, mezz, stretch senior, pref, LP, CMBS and distressed.  We review approximately 1,200 pipeline opportunities and complete 200 underwriting assignments each year. The majority of our time is focused on the middle market, with properties valued between $20MM-$150MM.

 

 

 

PLEASE HAVE:

  • At least 2 years of underwriting experience (multifamily a must; plus any mix of hotel, office, retail, industrial), tested during the interview process via timed case study
  • Very good to excellent writing, proofreading and grammar for credit memos, quote sheets, ASRs
  • Excellent organizational skills to keep track of inbound deal files, outbound debt quotes, etc.
  • Very good to excellent Excel skills (incl. keyboard shortcuts, charts, lookups, but not macros)
  • Good PowerPoint (alignment, design) and PDF skills
  • Driver’s license, ability to travel zero to a few days per month

  • Business Growth:   Help to build the book of business by networking, identifying potential clients, recognizing when good clients need additional help
  • Tech Focus:   Interest in the application of tech-based solutions, AI, and systems to scale output, increase quality, and deliver market-leading results
  • Hiring:   Partner with Admin team to recruit and onboard additional analyst support
  • Analytics:   Charts, graphs, Tableau, R, other tools to build data visualizations
  • Personal Growth:   TED talks, reading, goals, education, meditation - whatever you're into

 

 

DAY-TO-DAY: Aspen is scaling up to meet demand from the acquisitions, bond issuance, equity raise and lending categories.  The Analyst’s typical workload will include underwriting several deals per week (running rent and sale comps, putting comps on the map, construction pipeline, P&L proforma, draw schedule, return waterfall, borrower financials), creating charts and tables for exhibits, creating offering materials, joining calls with clients, calling brokers to confirm rents, writing or proofreading a few deliverables per week (quote sheets, term sheets, credit memos), keeping control of deal Q&A activity, researching deals, and various ad-hoc driven by client requests. We have way more work than we can handle, so we’re in need of people who are self-motivated, love commercial real estate, and want to grow and make money.
