The International portfolio is currently undertaking active office, industrial, residential and data center developments on both a direct and joint venture basis in partnership with local best in class development and operating partners.
Role Description
Reporting to the Head of Asset Management, the Director Capital Projects and Development, International will form an important role within a focused team that will drive the development program for QuadReal’s growing International Portfolio. The individual will take on a leadership and oversight role for urban mixed-use, residential, industrial and office projects in the US and Europe and across all aspects of the development cycle. The Director will work closely with the investment and asset management teams and joint venture partners to ensure seamless execution of the construction projects including both ground up development and major capital projects.

Role Description
- Oversight of QuadReal’s development partners who are responsible for the execution of large and complex development and capital projects through conception, master planning, entitlement, and schematic/design development
- Represent and manage joint venture partnerships and build strong collaborative relationships with QuadReal’s development partners. Monitor joint venture projects to ensure optimal project design/execution and safeguard fund interests
- Ensure successful delivery of projects. Have a robust know-how and strategic vision towards development processes and principles corresponding to regional/local market and jurisdiction specifically in the US and Europe
- Collaborate with internal and partner led teams including portfolio management, asset management, leasing, and property management to oversight the design and completion of projects which deliver strong returns and achieve portfolio goals and objectives
- Oversee the development brief and strategy whilst optimising development value throughout the project lifecycle, working closely with the partner’s project execution teams through working drawings, construction, occupancy, handover and post-construction warranty and lease-up
- Work closely with and support acquisition team in assessing development or value-add opportunities through provision of insights on market, entitlement risk, and underwriting/financial feasibility
- Knowledge of sustainable development programs and reporting (LEED, WELL, Fitwel, GRESB etc.) and work with QuadReal’s ESG team to advance such goals where appropriate
- Review and advise on construction related matters in loan documents and their relationships with the construction contract
- Provide leadership, mentoring and direction to other members of the asset management and investment team, including providing feedback and encouraging career development
Experience
- 15+ years of experience developing large-scale fast-track real estate projects, focused on urban mixed-use and high-rise residential previous experience in industrial or Class A office development projects would be an asset
- In-depth knowledge and experience in principles of planning/entitlements, political/community engagement, and design; strong knowledge and experience in construction, finance/underwriting in the US and / or European markets
- A track record of successfully leading, managing and delivering multiple complex, challenging and high-quality projects on time and within budget
- Experience working with joint venture development partners considered an asset
- Established relationships and network within the industry, authorities having jurisdiction and consultants to facilitate successful execution of QuadReal’s projects
Education:
- University degree in architecture, civil/environmental engineering, urban or infrastructure planning, construction management
- Certifications & Licencing in Real Estate, Architecture, Engineering are an asset, but not required

- Analytical/Technical Skills – excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to read, understand, and review architectural/design drawings and specifications (Microsoft Project, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Revit or other graphic design/drafting software)

- Practical and solution-oriented individual who is self motivated with a strong sense of professionalism and integrity
- Possess an entrepreneurial mindset and a passion for real estate development
