Sacramento Housing and Redevelopment Agency

The Sacramento Housing and Redevelopment Agency (SHRA) was formed as a Joint Powers Agency in 1981 by the City Council and Board of Supervisors.  We are recognized statewide as a leader in housing and community redevelopment.  SHRA's joint structure makes us efficient, effective and able to be community partners, financing experts and housing providers.

SHRA currently works in 15 redevelopment areas, collaborating with the community to plan and invest in a variety of neighborhood projects:  Streetscape, lighting, and other public infrastructure improvements; parks and community centers; mixed use and transit oriented developments and commercial facades.  By strategically investing our tax increment funds, SHRA stimulates additional private investment in jobs and housing in our lower income neighborhoods.
