WhyHotel’s story began, as many stories do, with a couple of people bent on improving what they knew best. In our case, newlybuilt, high-rise buildings in city centers. At the time Jason Fudin (Co-Founder & CEO of WhyHotel) was working as an executive at Vornado Realty (the D.C. portion of which is now JBG Smith) and Bao Vuong (Co-Founder & President of WhyHotel) was working as a Vice President of Development at PN Hoffman. WhyHotel opened its doors January 2017 in the Washington D.C. metro area days before the U.S. Presidential Inauguration (we knew that we would at least have a diverse set of guests on opening weekend!). After our successful first hotel, WhyHotel spun out of Vornado Realty and became an independent, venture-backed start-up in the summer of 2017. Today, our pop-up hotels are sprouting up across U.S. cities and are bringing our guests the space and comfort of a brand-new home with the 24/7 onsite professional service of a hotel. Because, why hotel when you can have a place like home?
