City of Creve Coeur Director of Community Development

The City of Creve Coeur is seeking a Director of Community Development to oversee long-range planning and development review including zoning and building, permitting, and enforcement services. This includes maintaining city land use plans under the direction of the Planning and Zoning Commission and reviewing submitted applications and plans for compliance with applicable zoning and subdivision codes.

Qualified applications must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Urban or Community Planning or related field, Master’s Degree preferred. AICP certification required. Minimum five (5) years of increasingly responsible related experience. A minimum of three years supervisory experience preferred.  Must possess knowledge of state planning laws, municipal zoning and building codes and ordinances. Must have strong communication and organizational skills and possess the ability to work independently.

Office hours are generally 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Attendance is required at Planning & Zoning Commission evening meetings, City Council evening meetings, and occasional Board of Adjustment evening meetings. Compensation includes excellent benefits package and salary based on experience (range min. $76,872; max. $109,740).
